About

An AI consulting firm for service companies, run by an operator

I'm Grant Morris. Idaho AI Consulting is deliberately small: one person who has run a service business from the inside, building out the tools owners already pay for but haven't had time to set up.

Background

Ex-COO of Boise Valley Heating & Air: 1,548.5% growth during my tenure. In that role I worked the parts of the business that don't show up in the ads: the dispatch board on a heat-wave Monday, the callbacks that slipped, the quotes nobody chased, and the payroll and invoicing that piled up after the trucks came home.

#4 on BoiseDev's 2024 Peak 43. Boise Valley Heating & Air on BoiseDev's 2024 Peak 43 list of Idaho's fastest-growing companies, ranked on 2020–2023 revenue growth, while I was COO. See the list.

Alongside operations, I've spent years using AI and automation to grow brands, from content and audience work to the systems behind it. That combination is the point of this firm. I know what the software can do, and I know what an office manager's Tuesday actually looks like.

I'm based in Meridian and work with owners across the Treasure Valley. Most of what I do happens in your existing accounts, with your team in the room or on a screen share.

Why this exists

Every service owner I know has the same pile: a field-service platform used for scheduling and invoicing and little else, an accounting package someone feeds by hand, a phone system that sends after-hours calls to a voicemail nobody checks until morning, and an AI subscription that's mostly used to rewrite emails.

None of that is a software problem. It's a time problem. The owner is on a job site, the office is answering phones, and nobody has a free week to read the setup guides. Large AI consulting firms aren't built for a twelve-person company, and software vendors' onboarding teams stop at the basics. So the features sit there, paid for and switched off.

There's also a trust problem. Owners have been sold software that promised to run the business and ended up as one more login. I'd rather start smaller: one workflow, in a tool you already trust, measured against how it ran before. If it earns its keep, we pick the next one. If it doesn't, you've lost a few hours, not a year.

My job is to be the person who has that week. I map the work, pick the fix that's worth doing first, build it, and hand it back documented.

How I work

Directly with you

You talk to the person doing the work. No account manager, no hand-off to a junior team.

Plain language

If I can't explain an automation to your office manager in two sentences, it's too complicated to keep running.

Honest about fit

Sometimes the answer on the first call is that AI isn't the fix, or that the tool you have already does it with one setting. I'll say so.

Local and reachable

I'm in the same valley as the shops I work with, so the person who built your automation is easy to reach when something needs to change after a busy season.

You stay in control

Everything lives in your accounts, every customer-facing template is approved by your team, one-off drafts are reviewed before they go out, and you can switch any of it off.
